“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5)
Meekness is perhaps one of the most misunderstood concepts in the Bible. In his dictionary on the Greek language, W.E. Vine had this to say concerning meekness: “it is an inwrought grace of the soul; and the exercises of it are first and chiefly towards God. It is that temper of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting.”
Meekness means we accept God for who He is and what He expects. This not only impacts our relationship with him, but will also temper our relationships with those around us. While some view meekness as a lack of strength, it is the very opposite. It is the willingness to surrender your will to that of another.
Does meekness characterize your attitude? If so, you are on your way to being what the Lord desires.
