“For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes” (Rev 7:15-17).
Here is pictured the perfect provision of heaven in comforting fellowship with the Lord. No more will the harsh, uncomfortable realities of life hurt the redeemed. This pictures sweet relief and refuge from the harsh elements they had experienced in working outside, under the scorching sun. (If you’ve ever worked outside when it’s over 100*, you know what this is like.) If we follow the Lord to heaven by obedient trust, how precious is the thought that He will dry the tears of sorrow from our eyes. When He dries them in His loving arms, they will stay dry!
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, `Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.’ And He who sits on the throne said, `Behold, I am making all things new.’ And He said, `Write, for these words are faithful and true’” (Rev 21:3-5).
